The awards night is being hosted by Mike Ezuruonye, Chris Attoh, and Kgopedia Lioane.
Iretiola Doyle, Omoni Oboli, Dakore Akande and Nse Ikpe-Etim have been jointly nominated for the Best Female Lead Act. Also nominated in the above mentioned category are Zina Ojei, Adesua Etomi and Fulu Mogoveni.
Other nominees include Eve Esin, "Encounter," "Meet the Parents," "Dry," Daniel K Daniel, OC Ukeje among others.

The 2016 Africa Movie Academy Awards which was held on Saturday night (June 11th) at the Obi Wali International Conference Center in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The Africa Oscar Award (AMAA AWARD) The hotly anticipated show was hosted by Chris Attoh, Mike Ezuruonye and Kgopedi Lilokoe. The ceremony recognises and honours, actors, film directors and producers in the African film industry most especially Olu Jacobs, Joke Silver, Mr Tony, Richard Mofe Damido (RMD) and veteran actor Pete Edochi for Life Achievement Awards for their immense contribution to the entertainment industry.
